The Village of Bawburgh

Bawburgh lies in the valley of the River Yare about 5 miles (8.0 km) west of Norwich city centre. It has a population of around 600.
Bawburgh Parish Council
The Parish Council is made up of 5 members who all live in Bawburgh and represent the village on various matters. We are effectively the third tier of local government, the other two being Norfolk County Council and South Norfolk District Council.
We meet generally on the third Thursday of every other month at 7.00pm in the village hall at Bawburgh (changes to the dates will be posted on this website).
The public are very welcome to attend and we encourage people to speak during the open forum which is part of each formal meeting.

For immediate release
11 March 2025
New Road, Bawburgh
Work to improve surface water drainage on New Road, Bawburgh will start on Monday 24 March 2025 and will take three days to complete. To undertake this work effectively and safely we will require the full width of the carriageway, therefore the road will need to be closed while work is in progress.
The full length of this road will be closed between Harts Lane and Chapel Break Road.
Access to properties within the closure will be maintained from one end of the closure at all times, and a signed diversion route along Harts Lane, Long Lane, Dereham Road, Wendene and Chapel Break Road will be set up.
Norfolk County Council thanks people for their patience while this maintenance work is carried out.
The work which will cost £6,000 will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Infrastructure Department and their contractors.
